Abstract

The City of Eugene and the Lane County Fair Board are interested in reducing solid waste and improving recycling efforts at the annual Lane County Fair. Recycling efforts at the Fair are geared towards “zero waste.” The 2000 Fair increased recycling by 20 percent and recycled over 65 percent of the Fair’s total garbage. City and Fair Board staff approached the Community Planning Workshop (CPW) at the University of Oregon to create and administer a survey asking visitors about recycling, composting, and the overall fair experience. The report summarizes the results of an intercept survey administered by CPW at the 2001 Fair.
